Tiffany Necklace
Giving a cross necklace can be a very special gift for a loved one. Whether it be a necklace made of gold, silver, or even wood the recipient of this cherished symbol will use it forever.
So what type of occasions should a necklace like this with so much meaning be given for? Something like this is not an everyday gift and usually the occasion of giving it has religious significance. We will discuss some religious occasions in which giving a religious necklace can be very appropriate.
Quick Tip:
“Make the most of the gifts that you give. Give them a gift that has more meaning than anything else with monetary value.”
Religious Customs
First we will discuss one of the first religious customs in a person’s life and that is their Baptism. And second to Baptism we will discuss giving a necklace at Second Communion. And thirdly we will discuss giving a necklace at Confirmation.
Some of these religious events may not be familiar to every reader and I apologize for that. I am just basing these occasions on my own personal experience.
Symbolism
Giving cross necklaces for a person’s Baptism gift can be a great symbol of the innocence that they are born with. This is because when the majority of people are baptized they are really only a few months old. A special necklace is a great present that can be held by the parents until the child is old enough to either wear it or keep in their own possession.
A cross necklace for a person’s Second Communion can be an even better idea because they are now at an age where they have it without breaking it. When I went through Second Communion I was 8 years old so maybe it isn’t a great idea to have the child wear it but allow them to keep it in a secure place.
When To Give
Getting a cross necklace as a Confirmation gift can be a bit more logical because now the recipient is at an age where they are responsible and mature enough to wear it daily and understand its meaning.
You don’t want to let anyone younger wear such a precious piece of jewelery because it can easily be lost or broken. This rings especially true with boys because we all know how they like to wrestle and run around everyday.
Whatever the occasion is a cross necklace cannot ever be a bad idea. I remember when I received one from my grandmother when I was a child. Still to this day I like to wear it not only for it’s religious significance, but also because it brings me memories of the one who gave it to me as a gift.
